| 2006 Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence |
On Friday, January 26, 2007, Governor John Baldacci presented a
Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence to BIW for achieving our
solid waste and paper reduction goals. Several other Maine STEP-UP
companies were similarly honored at the same event. Maine Department
of Environmental Protection Commissioner, David Littell, was on hand for
the presentation.

The award specifically recognized BIW for exceeding our goals for reduction of solid waste (5%) and paper usage (5%). BIW employees achieved a 6.6% reduction in solid waste disposal and 35% reduction in paper usage a full year ahead of our STEP-UP commitment. This is the 5th Governor’s Award that BIW has received since 2000. |
