The award specifically recognized BIW for reducing carbon emissions by 15% from the baseline year of 2003 through 2006. These reductions were achieved primarily through the energy reduction initiatives that were undertaken throughout all facilities. BIW was recognized for this honor through the participation in the Maine STEP-UP program. BIW will continue to reduce these emissions in upcoming years.
