General Overview
 Mission:

"The mission of Surface Ship Support Center is to be the Center of Excellence for providing total systems engineering and logistics solutions that lead to increased fleet operational readiness and reduced total ownership cost."

The Bath Iron Works (BIW) Life Cycle Support organization provides life cycle support to our surface navy customer.  Life cycle services at Bath Iron Works are consolidated within the Surface Ship Support Center (SSSC).  BIW's shipbuilding legacy has developed a talented pool of personnel utilizing their experiences from new construction, DDG and FFG Planning Yards, Post Shakedown Availability, and Fleet Services Engineering to provide a solid foundation for Life Cycle Support organization to operate.  In addition, BIW supports the Fleet through its Homeport offices located at Norfolk, Virginia; Mayport, Florida; Pascagoula, Mississippi; Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; San Diego, California, and Yokosuka, Japan.

Bath Iron Works provides life cycle support through the following two programs:

  • DDG / FFG Planning YardUSS Chafee
  • Post Shakedown Availability
