Structural Engineer

 

 

Detailed Description of Work:

-  Perform structural analysis of Naval Surface Combatant hull structure, equipment foundations and outfitting, utilizing Finite

   Element Analysis methods, as well as, traditional hand calculation techniques involving application of shipbuilding industry

   standards and requirements.

-  Apply engineering judgment, experience, analytical skills, and applicable rules to complete structural trade studies and

   generate arrangements of structure for new ship design concepts.

-  Complete engineering analysis support of manufacturing methods and tools for ship construction.  Primary efforts center

   on; lifting and turning of ship units, ship support, as well as, jigs and fixtures used in the construction process.

-  Participate in or lead technical interchanges on issues with customers such as U.S. Navy (NAVSEA and Supervisor of

   Shipbuilding), or others.

 

Qualifications for Position:

-  BS in Structural, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required, MS preferred.

-  Knowledge of U.S. Navy shipbuilding:  SWBS organization, structural requirements (DDS), Engineering Change

   Proposal process preferred.

-  Minimum of 5 plus years shipbuilding experience preferred.

-  Demonstrated experience in Navy ship shock requirements preferred.

-  Strong leadership and project management skills.

-  Demonstrated knowledge of structural analysis methods, both traditional and hand calculation, as well as, FEA, especially

   with software tools, FEMAP, PATRAN, NASTRAN required.

-  Strong technical writing and communication skills required.

-  Ability to present effective and concise oral and written communications.

-  Demonstrate personal time management capability.

-  Able to receive U.S. Government DoD security clearance.

-  Pay range commensurate with experience.
