Engineer III, Certification

 

 

Detailed Description of Work:

·          Reports to the DDG 1000 System Test Engineering lead at BIW

·          Support the development, review and maintenance of DDG 1000 certification plans including management plans, strategies, reports, procedures, test facility plans and related processes

·          Identify Testability candidates and develop design requirements to suit

·          Provide Certification Subject matter expertise in the development of Stages 2-7 Test Procedures 

·          Provide T&E support to the Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) in the planning and conduct of their related certifications in accordance with the prescribed test processes, plans, and doctrines

·          Coordinate Certification and Classification activities with Government Certification Authorities and Agents, and the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS)

·          Support DDG 1000 test innovations and identification of how they differ from existing surface ship test programs

·          Develop and implement processes related to Government Certifications, and Classification with ABS

·          Assist Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and other Cross Product Teams (CPTs) in identifying requirements related to Certification and Classification with ABS

·          Analyze comments received from Certification bodies and ABS, and develop integrated plans for resolution

·          Coordinate Certification and Classification activities across organizational boundaries

·          Recommend, develop, and report metrics related to Certification and Classification

·          Lead “Tiger Team” efforts to resolve issues related to Certification and ABS Classification

·          Periodic travel required

Qualifications for Position:

·          BS in Engineering or Naval Architecture Required

·          Minimum of one year test and evaluation related experience required

·          Experience in dealing with the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) or other Classification Societies preferred.

·          Project management and coordination skills required

            - ability to plan, organize and execute projects

            - ability to handle multiple projects and assignments 

·          Demonstrated ability to effectively deal with conflict and multiple priorities

·          Above average Microsoft Office Skills required

·          Positive attitude towards a teaming environment and demonstrated ability to function as a contributing team member

·          Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills

·          Demonstrated self-initiative to accomplish tasks and perform duties with minimal supervision

·          Enthusiasm for taking on new challenges and desire for follow-through and success
