Combat Systems Engineer II

Detailed Description of Work:

· Act as Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) for all assigned combat system ship alterations (ShipAlts)

· Assemble Government Furnished Information (GFI) into packages suitable for use by Design in SID development

· Work with various Navy customers and other contractors in the development of GFI and in resolution of GFI issues as they develop

· Brief shipcheck teams to ensure all applicable guidance is followed; accompany the design team on selected shipchecks

· Provide technical support for ship installation design (SID) development for engineering issues associated with assigned ShipAlts

· Write/review Ship Change Documents (SCDs) for all assigned ShipAlts

· Participate in PEO SHIPS’ Technical Review Panel (TRP) as part of the SCD approval process

· Support Design in the resolution of waterfront engineering issues that may arise during ShipAlt installation

· Develop ROM estimates for emergent combat system design and engineering work

· Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) in early development of ShipAlts

· Participate in off-site meetings and other events occasionally

· Work special projects as assigned

Qualifications for Position:

· BS in engineering required; electrical engineering preferred

· Experience in system-ship integration desired

· Familiarity with ship construction and overhaul specifications is helpful

· Experience with Installation Control Drawings, Technical Data Packages and other GFI is helpful

· Occasional business travel is required

· Must have the flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure of changing and often-conflicting priorities

· Ability to execute multiple simultaneous projects required

· Strong research skills and the ability to pay attention to detail is required

· Self motivation and a strong ability to contribute in a team environment required

· Must be competent in MS Office products and generally PC savvy

· Strong oral and written communication skills required
