·Act as Technical
Point of Contact (TPOC) for all assigned Hull Outfit/Structural ship
alterations (ShipAlts)
·Assemble necessary
information into packages suitable for use by Design in Ship Installation
Drawing (SID) development
·Work with various
Navy customers and other contractors in the development of technical
requirements and in resolution of technical issues as they develop
·Brief shipcheck
teams to ensure all applicable guidance is followed; accompany design teams on
selected shipchecks
·Provide technical
support for SID development for engineering issues associated with assigned ShipAlts
·Write/review Ship
Change Documents (SCDs) for all assigned ShipAlts
·Participate in PEO
SHIPS’ Technical Review Panel (TRP) as part of the SCD approval process
·Support Design in
the resolution of waterfront engineering issues that may arise during ShipAlt
installation or in the Hull/Structure discipline
·Develop ROM estimates
for assigned design and engineering work
·Participate in
Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) in early development of ShipAlts
·Participate in
off-site meetings and other events occasionally
·Work special
projects as assigned
Qualifications for Position:
·BS in engineering
required; Mechanical/Marine engineering preferred
·Five to ten years
experience in hull outfit engineering is required
·Familiarity with
ship construction and overhaul specifications required
·Experience with
ship change processes, products, and customers is necessary
·Occasional
business travel is required
·Must have the
flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure of changing and
often-conflicting priorities
·Ability to execute
multiple simultaneous projects required
·Strong research
skills and the ability to pay attention to detail is required
·Self motivation
and a strong ability to contribute in a team environment required
·Must be competent
in MS Office products and generally PC savvy
·Strong oral and
written communication skills required
