| Passenger Steamer for the Maine Steamship Co. Length: 232' Beam: 40' Depth: 26'-4" Draft: 16'-6" Displacement: 981 (light ship), 2,077 (full load) Other Data: 1 triple expansion steam engine, 1,400 horsepower. Keel laid December 1888, launched February 20,1890, delivered May 31,1890. Wooden hull built by New England Shipbuilding Company, 1 mile upriver from Bath Iron Works where it was completed. Ran between Portland and New York City for 7-1/2 years. Then sold and used to transport passengers and freight between Seattle, Washington and Alaska. Lost on rocks at Cape Mudge, British Columbia approximately 1911. |
