Co. Length: 136' Beam: 23' Depth: 13'-11" Draft: 10' Displacement: 246 (light ship), 340.5 (full load) Other Data: 1 triple expansion steam engine, 450 horsepower. Keel laid March 1895, launched June 3,1895, delivered July 20,1895. Wooden hull built by New England Shipbuilding Co., 1 mile upriver from Bath Iron Works where it was completed. Owners defaulted on payments during construction but Bath Iron Works completed the ship. Attached by Miller, Bull & Knowleton in 1899. Sold to Puerto Rican owner, later to Norfolk, Va. owners and renamed NORFOLK-ON-THE-ROADS. Badly damaged by fire in 1902, rebuilt and placed back in service. |
