Lead ship of Class. Reached over 36 knots on trials. Complement of 6 officers and 123 enlisted. August 1918 to Britain as convoy escort for World War I. Returned to United States then out to Nova Scotia. On return trip was accidentally rammed by a vessel in the convoy off of New York October 23,1918. Returned to the United States for repairs. To reserve in 1922. Transferred to Britain October 23,1940, renamed H.M.S. MONTGOMERY, and used for convoy escort duty in World War II. To reserve February 1944 and scrapped March 1945.
