Lead ship of Class. Originally planned as a patrol frigate, PF-109. Reached 30.6 knots on trials. Complement of 17 officers and 198 enlisted. Operated for 5 years in the Atlantic and Caribbean. May 31,1984 assigned to Naval Reserve Force as a training ship at Philadelphia. Decommissioned February 20,1997.
