On August 21, 1998, The Honorable John Douglass,
Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development and Acquisition, signed documents on behalf of the Navy, officially taking delivery of DONALD COOK (DDG 75). While at BIW for briefings on current shipbuilding programs and the facility modernization project, Secretary Douglass took the opportunity to formally accept the ship.
The crew moved aboard August 28, and the ship will depart BIW on November 16. She will be commissioned during ceremonies in Philadelphia on December 4, 1998.
