TREK ACROSS MAINE, 2011
This past Father's Day weekend, 73 riders from Team BIW completed the 176 mile, three-day Trek Across Maine.
The Trek is a fundraiser for the Maine Lung Association. Each rider had to raise a minimum of $500 to participate in the Trek. As a team Bath Iron Works raised more than $51,000. All money stays local to support educational programs and other lung-health related initiatives here in Maine.
Team Captain Hans Brandes says: "It was a great weekend, excellent organization, and many people will do it again. We had 44 first-time riders this year. And we already have people signed up for next year. Our goal is to break 100 riders for 2012 and be the number one corporate fundraiser."
Anthony Anderson, BIW Wellness Program Manager says, "The fundraising cause is great, however; I am excited about promoting a three-day activity where many people train for months and get in great physical condition. The Trek can definitely change your lifestyle." Join Team BIW for 2012: find out more HERE.
