Bath Iron Works teamed up with MaineDOT, Greater Portland Metro and the City of Bath to formally launch commuter bus transportation between Portland and Bath.
In celebration, Metro Executive Director Glenn Fenton announced that between now and September 30, 2025, all BIW employees can ride the BREEZ and other Metro routes for FREE with their BIW ID.
“The men and women of BIW work hard building Navy ships that protect our country and our families. Anything we can do that helps make life just a little bit easier for shipbuilders to perform their vital work for our national security is a good thing.” Chuck Krugh, President of Bath Iron Works said.
Metro’s BREEZ route, which started running last month to Bath, will make it easier and more affordable for residents living in the Portland area to travel to and from the shipyard. The BREEZ operates service between Portland, Yarmouth, Freeport, Brunswick, and now Bath (two trips daily, Monday through Friday).
