Administrative Technician

Admin Techs provide administrative support which includes maintaining manual and electronic files and performing basic office functions such as scheduling, taking messages and answering phones.

Finance/Accounting/Estimating Specialist

Our Finance Department provides financial leadership, guidance, and direction for activities related to financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, cash management, overhead/capex, accounting, taxes, internal audit and internal controls, and estimating (bids, proposals, and change orders).

Firefighter/EMT

We have our own fire department, which is committed to keeping your employees safe by suppressing fires on board ships under construction, in production facilities and in office spaces, as well as providing emergency medical services.

Human Resources Professional

Our HR Services Dept. is responsible for recruitment, employment and orientation services, as well as training and career development; the administration of employee benefits; the maintenance of our personnel database; and other services.

IT Specialist

Our IT Department maintains our company’s computer infrastructure and network system. This includes providing technical support, managing and storing data, installing and writing software, troubleshooting network issues and supporting projects that involve IT.

Nurse Practitioner

We have on-site nurse practitioners dedicated to promoting employee health by providing preventative educational programs and quality treatment of illnesses and injuries that arise in the shipyard.

Patrol Officer

Patrol Officers provide 24/7 armed security at multiple BIW facilities. Assignments include stationary posts, roving patrol and waterfront patrol positions. Patrol Officers safeguard against unauthorized access, violence, theft, vandalism and enforce security procedures.

BIW’s Patrol Officers operate various weapon platforms, security boats, patrol vehicles, CCTV systems and related security equipment.

Planner

Planners provide technical assistance to manufacturing to aid in the shipbuilding process. This includes determining executable work, providing necessary documentation to accomplish that work, researching material, determining material availability and ordering material as needed.

Production Control/Planning

The Production Control team contributes to the development of detailed build plans and schedules, as well as providing planning support to operations. They work collaboratively with production personnel, designers, engineers and other planners to develop integrated production plans and schedules and are responsible for budget time phasing, budget transfers and manual work package progressing for test & activation as well as the support services production accounts.

Safety/Health Engineer

Our Safety & Health Dept. is responsible for assisting with occupational health and safety initiatives, identifying workplace hazards and ensuring OSHA standards and company procedures are followed.

Security Specialist

We are a government contractor and require both industrial security, such as armed patrol officers, and cybersecurity to keep our shipbuilders and Navy assets safe.

Supply Chain Specialist

Our buyers purchase parts needed to build ships, as well as supplies to perform important functions in our shipyard. Their use a mix of project management, business and legal expertise to draft, negotiate and execute contracts with vendors.

The shipyard is an opportunity to be involved with surveying but also go home to my family every night. It’s a unique job that’s very rewarding.
