Life at BIW
We’re shipbuilders — and have been since 1884.
Here on the banks of the Kennebec River in Bath, Maine, our tools and processes have changed over the years. Today we’re part of General Dynamics, a market leader in aerospace, land and naval vehicles, shipbuilding and marine systems, and mission-critical IT. General Dynamics employs about 92,000 people and offers a number of opportunities worldwide.

Why Work at BIW

Keeping your family in mind
We provide numerous resources to benefit you and your family, from spouse health coaching and screenings, counseling and events for the entire family to enjoy.
We also partnered with the Bath Area YMCA and the U.S. Navy to expand childcare for our shipbuilders, resulting in a new childcare facility in Brunswick.
BIW has been very good to me and my family. It has provided stability when I needed it. I have met some incredible people and am extremely proud to be part of the BIW family.
