On April 9, 1925, Bath-built coastal passenger and cargo steamer Nobska was delivered to the New England Steamship Co. It carried passengers and freight to the Nantucket Islands and later became Baltimore’s first floating restaurant in 1976. It was short-lived, however, closing its doors in 1978 due to bad food and poor service. She was later acquired by the New England Steamship Foundation for restoration but was eventually scrapped in 2006. Nobska had been the last surviving coastal steamer.
