More than 4,000 BIW employees and their family and friends celebrated the shipyard and their craft on June 7 at the BIW Family Day Open House.
“It was amazing!! I grew up with my parents and aunts and uncles working there. Now, I have a son and nephew there and it was very cool to see “behind the curtain”!” said Jamie Dorr. “Thank you for standing in the rain so we could have this opportunity!!”
From Trades to Engineering and Design, over 60 booths and activities offered a glimpse of the vital roles that make our shipyard thrive.
Visitors enjoyed tours of Harvey C. Barnum Jr. (DDG 124) and Patrick Gallagher (DDG 127), two ships currently under construction.
Julie Osinski, Sr. Supervisor Supply Chain, was able to have relatives join her for a visit to the BIW.
