The BIW Training Academy is partnering with Southern Maine Community College to offer online leadership classes to BIW employees. The classes, which students take on their own time and at their own pace, are free although space is limited.
“As we continue to improve access to training for all employees, options like on-line learning offers a great opportunity for employees to customize their learning path while balancing work and life demands,” said Training Director Tom Stevens.
The training consists of 42 modules covering topics like “Be a Better Listener” and “Coaching Techniques that Drive Change.”
Electrician Courtney Dorval was a member of the first group to complete the courses. “This program has made me a stronger worker and a more confident leader. I’ve learned about diversity, emotions, task managing, productivity and much more.”
“I am very excited that BIW recognizes the importance of continued education and development for current employees,” said Senior Recruiter Amanda Reibel.
Electrician Kaaleb Terrell added: “This program has helped me learn how to become better at being a leader/motivator and has helped me with decision-making, problem-solving, research and productivity.”
