Design
The Design team determines how the materials and components that make up the ship are configured.
They use a variety of CAD tools to create a fully rendered version of the DDG 51 platform. This allows them to create the size, shape and specifications for the parts and pieces that make up ship assemblies and sub-assemblies.
They interface with the Engineers, Planners and Operations teams before any material is cut or shaped. This helps to set everyone to a synchronized action plan when it comes time to fabricate components and build the ship. Designers help throughout the production process, supporting Operations team members as they manufacture the various pieces, and helping to resolve issues that come up during assembly.
