Our Career Development and Training program provides on-site training, where our focus is to deliver the core skills required to work safe, while our Professional Development Program recruits and develops talented individuals to prepare them for future leadership roles at BIW.
My experience at BIW has been informative, challenging and exciting. I have been able to learn about the shipbuilding process while contributing to the completion of one of the most important vessels in the world. When working at BIW, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride knowing that the work I was doing helps the U.S. Navy defend and protect American and our allies.

BIW Training Trailer
Shipbuilder 1
We bring both hands-on and virtual training to Maine and beyond with our Training Trailer, a standalone center of learning.
The BIW Training Trailer, known as Shipbuilder 1, is a 53-foot trailer we bring to your location to support hiring, training and other BIW programs. With power, wi-fi, heat and air conditioning, job candidates and new hires can complete hiring applications as well as learn and practice trades-based skills using advanced technology, including virtual reality.
