Join an Employee Resource Group
BIW Employee Resources Groups (ERGs) are designed to provide a supportive community and to focus on improving workplace culture.
Members may be involved in attracting and recruiting employees; increasing job satisfaction; fostering professional development through mentoring and networking; and supporting BIW’s initiatives in the community.
Meetings will be held during non-work hours like lunchtime or between shifts unless otherwise approved by the Director of Ethics and Compliance. BIW’s ERGs are open to all employees.

Toastmasters ERG
Whether you’re looking to polish your presentation skills, nail your next high-stakes meeting or just feel more comfortable speaking in a group, Toastmasters provides a supportive, low-pressure environment to grow.
What is Toastmasters?
Since 1924, Toastmasters International has transformed nearly eight million lives through a simple, yet powerful, mission: empowering individuals to become more effective communicators and leaders. At Toastmasters, every meeting is a judgment-free space where you can practice, grow and transform.
Membership Info
This club will meet outside of normal working hours, hosted at a BIW facility, but on their own time, and each member would be responsible for membership dues ($25 initiation fee, $60 additionally, every 6 months).
Become a Member
- To become a member, click the application button below to fill out the application. It has been pro-rated for an 11-month membership from May 2026 through March 2027 ($10/mo + a one-time $25 Toastmasters New Member fee).
- Submit the application to [email protected]
- You will then be invited to the first Toastmasters at BIW club meeting (to be scheduled in May).
- Bring your payment (cash/check) with you at that time – you do not need to provide payment when submitting your application.

Whether you need help brainstorming a project, making connections with other professionals or seeking a mentor, the PMERG is here to help.
What is the Project Management ERG?
The PMERG is a voluntary company-supported employee-led community designed to support professionals in a project roles through networking, mentorship and skill building. It provides a dedicated space for career growth and best practices, often fostering diversity within project management.
Membership Info
This club will be meeting during non-work hours like lunchtime or between shifts unless otherwise approved. There are eight events planned during the year: four quarterly lunch meetings and four evening meetings. Lunch meetings are always remote. Meetings will take place on the third Tuesday.

What is the Women’s Employee Resource Group?
The Women’s Employee Resource Group is a voluntary employee-led group designed to foster a supportive workplace community for women. This group offers networking, mentoring and works to advance women’s careers while influencing company policy.

This club will be meeting during non-work hours like lunchtime or between shifts unless otherwise approved. The WERG plans events throughout the year to support women shipbuilders.

Veterans Employee Resource Group
What is the Veterans Employee Resource Group?
The BIW Veterans Employee Resource Group strives to bring awareness to veterans’ issues by uniting BIW employees with shared experiences in a supportive environment with focus on improving workplace culture and improving resources to the veteran community. This group may be involved with attracting and recruiting employees, promoting belonging, increasing job satisfaction, fostering professional development through mentoring and networking and supporting the company’s initiatives.
